ARTS PLATFORM
Having attended UC Berkeley and taken classes in the fine arts where Cal alumni like Gregory Peck, Stacy Keach and Chris Pine to name but a few developed their skills, I love and support the Arts!
Seattle has long been the Arts and cultural center of King County and I intend as King County Executive to Enhance the opportunities for Arts not just in Seattle but throughout King County.
The arts in their many forms; Performing Arts, including Stage and Concert events to Sculpture, Mural and interactive art is ESSENTIAL for a region that has deep roots in creating Community in our communities.
Art has always been a visual voice with it’s intent to “Connect” with it’s audience. From the Fremont Troll to Pike Place Gum Wall, the Symphony to Snoqualmie Falls, Arts Drive Tourism which strengthens our County.
I support access to art and cultural engagements and have been enriched by opportunities I have had provided from The Wing Luke museum to SAM, Burke Museum, MOHAI and Museum of Flight. Community Concerts showcasing upcoming King County artists through a grant program could provide the next Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones, Heart, Ray Charles, Ernestine Anderson, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters or Sir Mix A Lot.
Everything is done better when we Do It TOGETHER, I envision a public/private collaboration because when the community is vested they take pride in the project.
I look forward as we “CHART” a New Course for King County to be the next King County Executive. TOGETHER we can make a DIFFERENCE!
