ARTS PLATFORM

I believe that the arts are the missing piece from mainstream activism. Every successful social movement has to prioritize the imagination in order to step into a new way of being. Seattle is known worldwide for our city’s ability to produce art with incredible impact. We must use this artistic endowment to shine a light into the social darkness that Facism relies on.

My platform consists of 3 policies. 1) An open online forum parallel to each committee, 2) an interactive digital map citizens can use to drop pins of interest whether to identify an issue or solution 3) the creation of social unions around identity, issue, and interest that act as a standing check for the policy making process. These 3 policies allow us to develop a social mirror to look at ourselves, the map allows us to prioritize our conversation around things happening right here and now, and social unions give us the safety of the common so we can endure the diversity of difference. We need artists to show us how beautiful differences can be. The 3 policies I suggest would allow the entire city of Seattle to come together and envision what life could be like if we question our established authority. Play allows us to learn. It will be the Artist that shows us the way.
